There is a strange grief that comes with being a woman who loves deeply.
Not performative love.
Not manipulation dressed up as devotion.
But real openness. Real feeling. Real presence.
Women with open hearts often move through life confused by rejection because they love so honestly. They assume love should naturally be met with love. But love does not only awaken tenderness in people. It also awakens fear. Shame. Longing. Grief. Defensiveness. Unworthiness. Control.
Love exposes people to themselves.
And not everybody is ready for that.
Almost every feminine archetype tied to love, beauty, openness, sensuality or devotion carries rejection somewhere in their story.
Aphrodite is desired, but also blamed, feared, diminished, objectified.
Inanna descends into abandonment, stripped of everything she thought she was.
Persephone is taken from herself.
Venus is adored superficially, but rarely truly seen.
These are stories about what happens when love, beauty, openness and feminine power meet a wounded world.
I have always found myself surrounded by what I call queen energy in both men and women. People who lead with armour. People who need control. People who struggle to soften. People who protect themselves through distance, superiority, perfectionism, power, withdrawal.
And I understand it now with more compassion than I once did.
Because beneath many shadow queens is a wounded maiden. A heart that once learned it was not safe to need, trust, surrender, or be fully seen.
The open-hearted woman often carries the opposite wound.
She over-gives. Over-understands. Over-accommodates. She confuses empathy with self-abandonment. She tries to love people into healing while slowly disappearing herself.
This is why these dynamics magnetise one another.
One person longs to control love before it can hurt them.
The other longs to earn love by proving their devotion.
Both are wounded.
And yet there is something sacred hidden inside these painful dynamics too. Because eventually rejection forces the love goddess into a deeper initiation.
She stops asking:
“Why wasn’t I enough?”
And begins asking:
“Why did I abandon myself trying to be chosen?”
That is the turning point.
The integrated feminine is not cold. She does not shut down her heart. She does not become cynical to survive.
She simply learns that love without boundaries is not holiness. It is self-erasure.
The mature love goddess still loves deeply. Possibly more deeply than before. But she no longer mistakes suffering for devotion. She no longer romanticises being emotionally starved. She no longer begs wounded people to meet her in places they have not yet learned to go themselves.
And perhaps this is the deeper truth:
Every love goddess goes through rejection because love reveals people to themselves.
Not everyone is ready for what it uncovers.
But rejection is not the end of the story.
It is often the moment she hears the call to return to herself.
