I was suffering with thoughts of suffering, suffering caused by humans, on the innocent. It’s agonising to me. I know hurt people hurt people. People feel disavowed in life, some are born sick, and others held down …..but I just couldn’t shake the thought that this world would be better off without us. Then…… I went to the Yoko Ono exhibition. It was like a love antidote – it restored my faith in humanity. It encouraged me to keep choosing the light.
The sheer volume of her work is mind-blowing, her boundless creativity, and her persistent drive to share, collaborate, and encourage us all to see our connections.
The Boldness of a True Artist
Yoko Ono’s boldness, almost audaciousness, is evident in her ability to put herself out there despite society, despite what people might think. She embodies the spirit of a true artist, one who is unafraid to use her voice and still does so with unyielding conviction. Her artistry is like no one else’s, and her YES attitude is infectious. She disrupts you, takes charge of the environment, and slows down the pace, making you stop and reflect.
Embracing Love and Connection
Yoko invites you to use crayons to connect your silhouettes with others, to shake the hands of strangers through a hole in the wall, to write about your mother and tape it to a wall in a sea of mother messages, and to hang your wishes in the tree along with hundreds of other wishes. It was so beautiful to be reminded of how everyone’s wishes were so love-based.
Collective Human Spirit
There’s so much beauty in the world, and it’s so easy to see the ugly. Yoko Ono’s work is a powerful reminder of this. When humans get the opportunity, they wish for love.
Be Your Own Yoko
I believe her exhibition is a call to action for all of us. To be audacious, be fearless, and to embrace your own unique voice. There is a message of hope and love in her work that urges us to see beyond the suffering and connect with one another. It’s the only way.
This exhibition wasn’t just about art; it was about life, connection, and the enduring power of the human spirit. It was a reminder that even in the face of suffering, there is always hope and love to be found. Let’s take this message to heart and encourage one another to find the beauty in the world, to contribute to it, and to share our light. No matter what the darkness might say.
